For the 2009-2010 school year I will be teaching 8th Grade U.S. History, 7th Grade Geography, The 60's and Personal
Decision Making and Finance and 8th Vocational Computers!
8th
Grade U.S. History is an exciting course that will take us from the Age of Exploration of the America's through
the end of the Civil War. We will complete several projects and activities that will help us to understand how the United
States was formed and how it has continued to be a strong and influential country.
7th Grade Geography is a course that will take us around the world and back. We will travel to Latin America,
Europe, Russia, Australia, Africa and Asia. This course is designed to make geography a real world experience and lots
of fun. Some activities will include travel brochures, museum exhibits, news reports, and possibly a food court!
The
Women in History course will be based on one of my favorite quotes "Women who
behave seldom make history". We are going to study a variety of women throughout history who have been able to
break the mold and change the course of history.
The finance
class is a real world exposure to decisions that everyone needs to know as they become independents. We will
begin with basic banking necessities and branch into investments, taxes and insurance as the course progresses.
It is a very useful class!
8th Vocational Computers
is a real world introduction to Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel. This students will
learn basic information about these programs and how to use them in the classroom and the work force.
The 60's is a 9-12 elective history course. It will cover the politics of Kennedy,
Johnson and Nixon, the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement and the Counterculture movement. It is a very interesting
class that sets this decade apart from others as a time of change in our nations history.
